To know our Lord which way can we follow? To know our Lord there are many ways. We can divide these ways into four.
- Shari’iyyi- through Divine revelation
- Aqliyy (intellectual)
- Fitriyy (Natural Disposition)
- what is experienced and perceived
Among above ways, the following Qur’anic verses call upon us to hear Divine revelation and use our intellect in order to know Allah and submit for Him. Allah says:
“And He is Allah ; there is no deity except Him. To Him is [due all] praise in the first [life] and the Hereafter. And His is the [final] decision, and to Him you will be returned.” Suuratu Al-Qasas 28:70
Explantion: And He is God; there is no god except Him. To Him belongs [all] praise in the former, namely, the life of this world, and in the latter, Paradise. And to Him belongs the judgement, the decree effective in [the case of] all things, and to Him you will be returned, through resurrection.
“Say, “Have you considered: if Allah should make for you the night continuous until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allah could bring you light? Then will you not hear?
Say, “Have you considered: if Allah should make for you the day continuous until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allah could bring you a night in which you may rest? Then will you not see?” Suuratu Al-Qasas 28:71-72
Explantion: Night and Day are among the Blessings of Allah and are Signs of Tawhid (Oneness Of Allah). Allah reminds His servants of His favors towards them by subjugating for them the night and day, without which they could not survive. He explains that if He made the night continuous, lasting until the Day of Resurrection, that would be harmful for them and would cause boredom and stress. Allah says:
“And out of His mercy He made for you the night and the day that you may rest therein and [by day] seek from His bounty and [that] perhaps you will be grateful.” Suuratu Al-Qasas 28:73
“And it is He who has made the night and the day in succession for whoever desires to remember or desires gratitude.” Suuratu Al-Furqaan 25:62
The observation and deep consideration of the wonderful phenomenon of the alternation of the day and night is a proof of Tauhid (Oneness of Allah) and His Providence so that man may feel grateful to Him and prostrate himself before Him in all humility.
Let me ask you questions. If the night is continuous even for one year, who can bring the day light? By the same token, if the day is continuous even for one year, who can bring the night? Is there anyone who can do these other than Allah (God)?
